Early Results of the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam Survey for High Redshift Galaxies

I will review the progress of the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) optical imaging survey for high redshift galaxies including Lyman alpha emitters (LAEs), and present the early results. The new data allow us to obtain over a half million galaxies at z~4-7 in a total area of >100 deg^2, about 1-2 orders of magnitude larger than previous high redshift galaxy surveys. With the large Subaru/HSC galaxy sample supported by spectra taken with Keck, Subaru, and Magellan, and a large-area deep Spitzer survey, we have performed various statistical measurements including luminosity functions, correlation functions, and rest-frame optical line ratios, allowing us to discuss galaxy formation and cosmic reionization to unprecedented detail. These results have recently been presented in our first splash of 12 refereed papers.
