The IAG Library

The IAG Library holds one of the best collections of books, journals, and maps on Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences of Brazil. Through the SIBi/USP, professors, students, and technical and administrative staff can also access other libraries of USP and electronic bases of periodical and books.

Working Hours and Location

The IAG Library is located on the ground floor of the institute administration block, where individual and group studies can be carried out from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 9pm during the academic period.

Working hours are reduced during vacation and school recess week: 8pm to 5:30pm.

 

Data Base

Through the Integrated System of USP Libraries, members of USP can find available printed and electronic bibliographic resources. The SIBi/USP provides tutorials for usage of several data bases. Please contact the IAG Library for further information.

Virtual Library SIBi

  • Integrated Search: offers results of all printed and digital resources available at SIBi;

  • Dedalus: searches USP library collections and reserve and renewal tools;

  • E-magazines: e-titles made available through license contracts;

  • Data Bases: electronic resources arranged alphabetically or by matters;

  • E-books: academic e-books made available to USP community;

  • Portal .periodicos. CAPES: digital library with more than 31,000 complete periodicals and 130 referential bases;

  • CRUESP Libraries – Unicamp and Unesp: consortium integrating SP state university libraries.

USP Digital Library

  • Portal of USP Theses and Dissertations: access to digital copies of theses and dissertations approved in USP Graduate Programs;

  • Portal of USP Journals: compilation of journals produced by USP and accredited by the Support Program to Scientific Periodic Publications of USP;

  • Brasiliana USP: digital collection made available by USP;

  • Digital Library of Rare and Special Works: provides thorough content of titles selected from USP libraries;

  • Digital Library of IEB: digital material and research instruments of IEB (Institute of Brazilian Studies) catalog.

External Bases

  • Web of Science: index of academic citations maintained by Thomson Reuters;

  • Sciverse Scopus: data bank of summaries and citations of peer-reviewed publications maintained by Elsevier;

  • SciELO: e-library of Brazilian scientific periodicals;

  • SciELO Books: on-line publications of national and thematic academic books.

 

Theses and Dissertations

Guidelines

The Integrated System of USP Libraries directs the textual structuration and arrangement of dissertations and theses by means of the document Guidelines for Presenting Dissertations and Theses at USP(in Portuguese). At IAG a two-sided printed copy is required for storage at the Institute Library.

Catalog card:

Catalog card is a set of technical description elements of the document. It should be printed on the back of the thesis or dissertation cover page. Descriptors or keywords of the Catalog card must be selected within the SIBi/USP Controlled Vocabulary.

Publication in the Portal of Theses and Dissertations of USP

Theses and Dissertations produced through the Graduate Programs of USP are digitally published in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations of University of São Paulo. Instructions for publications can be found in the Digital Library website.
