Tips
Day by Day Food
The typical food in Brazil is Rice and Beans + Salad (tomatoes and lettuce) + Some Meat. In simple street restaurants every day we have a typical dish, one of the most traditional is the Feijoada on Wednesday. Which is pork meat cooked with black beans, rice plus fried pork ribs and borecole. Feijoada is very good, but, it's kind of heavy specially for people not used to it .
Restaurants
São Paulo is one of the biggest gastronomic center in the world, here you can find restaurants of any kind, from the cheapest to the most expensive, from the most luxurious to the most exotic. You can find here any type of food.
Fruits
If you like fruits, you should try the different Brazilian fruits. There is a great variety of fruits, and fresh made juices are always good (not from frozen fruits extract). All the year we have all the fruits, but, the tasty change, it's best always to choose the fruit for the period you will be here.
Ice-creams from fruits are a good choice too.
Drinks
If you want to try something other than coca-cola ("coke"), I would suggest you to drink Guaraná, which is a soft drink from a little fruit we have in the amazon called guaraná. The best Guaraná brand is Antartica.
Alcoholl is cheap in Brazil, specially cachaça, which is made from sugar-cane, it's pretty strong and can let you drunk in just a few drinks. The most typical Brazilian drink is called caipirinha made from cachaça, sugar and lemon. Beer is also very popular and the best brands are: Skoll, Brahma, Antartica, Kaiser, Original and Bavaria
Don't forget, visit "Vila Madalena" for nice restaurants, or go to "Shopping Eldorado" food Hall for less expensive fast-food meals.
