Close Binary Systems

Close binary systems are associated with a wide variety of astrophysical scenarios: low mass helium white dwarfs, recycled millisecond pulsars, supernovae progenitor, planetary nebulae with double nucleus, black widows and redback systems. In this conference we will review the general characteristics of close binary systems. I will give details of our evolutionary code, with which we perform our binary evolution calculations. We will focus later on the spider family (black widows and redbacks), and in the transitional millisecond pulsars. Finally, I will comment you about the main topics we are currently developing in our research group: tidal effects, accretion disk around the neutron star in a close binary system, and ultra-compact binary systems.
