Studying the Universe from Chile

Mónica Rubio

Premio Nacional de Ciencias Exactas 2021, Chile
Professora Titular - Departamento de Astronomía, Universidad de Chile

The north of Chile has the largest number of astronomical facilities to study the Universe. These include optical/infrared telescopes and radiotelescopes ranging from the visible light to the mm/submm radio wavelength windows. In this talk, we will present results of the study of the star formation process in the Magellanic Clouds, the two nearest galaxies that are only visible from the south hemisphere, and in other southern dwarf galaxies of the Local Group. In particular, we will show the results obtained with the APEX and ALMA radio telescopes.

Esta conferência é realizada em parceria com o Consulado do Chile em São Paulo e AUCANI/USP, como parte do CII Chile Corner.
Antes da conferência, às 10:00, será inaugurada a mostra fotográfica: "Chile y la observación del espacio".
