Triples in the sky: dynamics and discoveries in nearby stellar systems
a talk by Boaz Katz and Idel Waisberg (Weizmann Institute/Israel) - In-person
Abstract:
We will describe new insights into the dynamics of three body systems and discovery of new companions to nearby stars leading to surprising results. These include a candidate for the closest core collapse progenitor to the sun, a millennial transient observed by Ptolemy and a seven star system in the 13th brightest star in the sky.

Katz: PhD Weizmann 2010, long term member at the IAS princeton, faculty at Weizmann since 2014.
Waisberg: PhD MPE Garching, Benoziyo Fellow at Weizmann, Independent researcher since 2024.
