Master student must have a minimum of 96 credit units, with 40 in disciplines and 56 in the dissertation.

Doctorate student, holder of master title from USP or recognized by it should complete only credit units corresponding to the difference between disciplines needed to direct Doctorate and required for the master program, as follows:
 
- 159 credit units being 09 in disciplines and 150 in thesis.
 
Direct doctoral student without obtaining prior approval of master title, must obtain a minimum credit units, as follows:
 
Grade in each discipline is expressed in levels, in accordance with the following scale:
 
A - Excellent, entitled with credits - minimum frequency 75%;
B - Good, entitled with credits - minimum frequency 75%;
C - Regular, entitled with credits - minimum frequency 75%;
R - Fail, no credits acquired;
T - Transfer: allocated credits for disciplines outside of USP, accepted up to one third of the minimum amount required in disciplines, with the approval of the CPG.
