National Postdoctoral Program/CAPES (PNPD/CAPES)

What is PNPD/CAPES?

It is an institutional concession program that funds stricto sensu postdoctoral studies in academic graduate programs approved by CAPES.

 Objectives:

I - promote production of high level studies;

II - support national research groups;

III - renovate Graduate Programs in higher education and research institutions;

IV - stimulate the insertion of Brazilian and foreign researchers in postdoctoral stage, promoting their integration with research projects developed by Graduate Programs throughout the country.

A

Brazilians or foreigners residing in Brazil and temporary visa holders

Not allowed. The beneficiary must not be employed throughout scholarship duration

60 months

B

Foreigners living abroad

Not allowed. The beneficiary must not be employed throughout scholarship duration

60 months

C

Brazilians or foreigners residing in Brazil and employed as professors in higher education institutions or researchers in public research institutions

Allowed, provided that the beneficiary withdraws from any activities or work relations with the same higher education institution which the PNPD scholarship comes from.

12 months
