Statistics

Graduate studies in meteorology began in 1975 under the Geophysics program, however, in 1984 it had established its own program. By 2016, 287 master dissertations and 106 doctoral theses were completed, being 8 through direct PhD (without a previous Master’s degree). Currently, there are 74 students enrolled in the program – 34 in the MSc and 40 in the PhD (of which 2 were admitted without an MSc). Dropout rates were relatively high until 1999, as seen in Figure 2. In recent years, the number of dropouts reduced considerably (Figure 3). The Meteorology Graduate Program achieved score 7 in the last three evaluations carried out by CAPES (2004-2006, 2007-2009 and 2010-2012). Figures 4 and 5 show the number of students who have completed the MSc and PhD courses over the years, respectively.
