The Academic Board is the main advisory and deliberative board for each teaching and research unit at Universidade de São Paulo. The unit's Dean presides over the Academic Board, and its members include the Vice-Dean, the presidents for IAG's five Statutory Committees (Undergraduate, Graduate, Research, Culture and Extension, and Inclusion and Belonging), the head of each of IAG's three Departments (Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences), as well as representatives for the faculty, for the non-teaching staff, and for the students.
The membership distribution for the Academic Board is determined by USP's Statute (Título V, Capítulo II, Artigo 45), and its role is ruled by USP's General Regulations (Título III, Capítulo I, Artigo 39).
