Seminário: Spectropolarimetry of solar type-stars: Magnetic field observation across the HR diagram

We explore the Sun-Stellar context of magnetic field measurements and dynamo evolution for solar type stars. The availability of the spectropolarimeters ESPaDOnS at CFHT and NARVAL at TBL opens the exceptional possibility to study the magnetic properties of Sun-like stars by means of spectropolarimetric observations. Observations of solar like stars at different ages allows to better understand the dependence of magnetic activity on basic stellar parameters such as age, rotation rate and depth of the convection zone. This provides the observations necessary for testing dynamo theories. Our analysis based on a high-resolution spectroscopic analysis and snapshot observations of FGK solar analogs and solar twins shed light on the Solar magnetic field through time.
