Nonlinear dynamics of the stellar-planetary environment: Cosmic vision from Leonardo da Vinci & Vincent Van Gogh to Lagrange & Poincaré
a talk by Abraham Chian (INPE, Brasil)
Abstract:
An overview of the star-planet coupling is presented, with emphasis on nonlinear phenomena. First, we discuss the fundamental processes of chaos and turbulence governing the stellar-planetary environment. Next, we show some recent observations of magnetic reconnection and turbulence in the sun and solar wind, and vortex reconnection and turbulence in the Earth's ionosphere.
